Based on the information you gave, you live in some type of facility other than a nursing home or correctional facility. Because of the numerous types of facilities that exist and the different SSI payment rates that apply to certain types of facilities in different States, the screening tool is not able to accurately screen for eligibility in this situation. Please visit the Publications Page to find out more information.
This screening tool only asks very general questions about your income and resources, citizenship, living arrangements and, if you are under 65, your disability. SSA will ask you for more detailed information. If you are under 65, they will also need more information about your disability.
To find out more about how SSA decides if you are disabled, visit SSA’s Publications Page, select "Disability" under "Topics," and review Social Security Publication Number 05-10029.
